One line Description: Small, skinny albino tom with pale blue-grey eyes

Descriptive Appearance: At first glance, Paletongue appears to be a normal white cat in regards to his colouring. Under most lighting, this continues to be the cat. However, when the sun hits in just the right way, his pink skin seems shift shade slightly, becoming just a little paler than it usually is.

His eyes also change under the sun. Normally, they are a very light blue-grey colour. Catch him in the right light, though, and they take on an almost translucent, pinkish hue on top of the usual grey. It's a strange phenomenon, and one that is not always immediately obvious if not looking for it directly.

Paletongue was always a runt. He is small in stature, skinny, and not particularly muscled. Looking at him, it is clear that he'd never be a particularly formidable warrior. Considering NightClan's dislike of weakness, it's almost a wonder how he's lasted in the clan.

But being small does have its advantages. The tom is light, able to walk silently and get away with riskier paths through the swampy territory. He's also quick and able to physically wriggle out of tricky situations with greater ease than his larger clanmates.

Thankfully, the nature of NightClan's territory means that Paletongue does not spent very much time in direct sunlight. However, if he ever has to venture out into it for any reason, his skin is very quick to burn. Irritated, sunburnt patches and scabs are not an uncommon sight on him, especially in summer.

Brief Personality: Smart, manipulative, grudge-bearing, selfish

Descriptive personality: Paletongue has always been a loner of sorts. In the nursery, he never made many friends - NightClan's negative view of weakness causing the majority of cats around him to look down on him. This isolation continued with him into adulthood, leaving him a distant, secretive cat that far prefers his own company to that of anybody else.

He's a manipulative tom that had no qualms about lying about anything. Paletongue feels no guilt about this, nor about, well, anything at all really. He's perfectly willing to break the warrior code, betray his clanmates, or anything else. After all, what does he owe any of them? He's always had to fend for himself in this world; maybe they should learn to do the same too. His distain for others is not typical of a medicine cat, but he's who NightClan is stuck with now and therefore they're just going to have to put up with it.

Paletongue's talents lie in the mind, not the physical. He'd not a fighter, no, but he's smart as a whip and often thinks two steps ahead of those around him - something that he uses to his advantage when it comes to his attempts at manipulation. It is also something that comes in useful when it comes to his duties. While the tom may not like his clanmates, he doesn't want to be kicked out and forced to live the life of a loner, and so he'll do his job - often using his quick mind to diagnose illnesses and find solutions to problems with impressive speed.

Descriptive History: Born a runt, Paletongue was never a particular desired cat within the clan. His mother told him from an early age who his father was in an attempt to prompt her son into trying to achieve more but, in reality, all it did was cause resentment. If that was the case, then why did his father not play with him? He seemed to like all the other kits, but not his own son! And anyway, nobody seemed to believe that Eveningstar was his father when he told them. He was the wrong colour, they said. How could a black cat and a brown cat produce a white kit? No, clearly his father was some kind of weak loner that his mother had foolishly fallen for.

This resentment only grew as he did, though only in regards to his clan. When it came to his father, Paletongue only wanted to impress him. Deemed to weak to be a warrior, Paletongue was forced to become medicine cat apprentice and never even given a chance to prove himself. He was, at least, pretty good at the job. Problem was, he was bored, and that boredom drove him to do things that were not particularly desirable. 

Guilt was never something that Paletonge had particularly experienced, and morals were always something that he thought stupid. The tom begun going out at night and getting up to no good. It started with catching and killing prey in drawn out, painful ways - gleefully disposing of the bodies in the water, knowing full well that he was breaking the warrior code. This continued, Paletongue entertaining himself with bigger and trickier misdemeanours until, one day, his mentor, the clan's former medicine cat, died unexpectedly. Obviously he claims to have nothing to do with it but, well... Who knows? He's certainly got it in him to bump off a cat that he deems in his way.

At least now, no longer an apprentice, he might finally have a chance to prove his worth to Eveningstar...
