Pronouns can be an important part of one's identity. As roleplaying is a collaborative game, it is important that we respect other players and how they choose to identify. If you are not sure about how pronouns work, this guide will help you when roleplaying with your peers, as well as talking to them on Discord.

Under the role selection, there is a bot that will allow you to select your pronouns. There are three options: he/him, she/her, they/them. If you want a combination, such as she/they, you can select multiple roles.

If someone has selected a role, you can click on their name on Discord and see it. Please respect your peers. If you are not sure what somebody uses and they have not selected a role, they/them is a good default as a lot of people see it as neutral.

Please note that this bot is optional. It is not mandatory to select a pronoun role, but it is suggested if this is something that means a lot to you.

On Discord, another option is to include your pronouns in your display name - e.g. Tactical (she/her).

Those who find pronouns important in roleplay should tag them at the start of the thread.

The pronouns should be at the top of the thread so that those whom you are roleplaying with can see it straight away. This way, hopefully no mistakes will be made.

Accidents DO happen, and mistakes ARE made. If you feel uncomfortable because yourself or your character are being referred to incorrectly, politely let the person you are roleplaying/talking with know. If no effort is made to fix the situation, bring it up to staff so we can intervene before problems arise.

You do not have to write with anybody that you do not want to. If somebody has made you feel uncomfortable, it is perfectly fine to not write with them again. This is true for any reason - not just because of pronoun usage. 

Each roleplay below indicates different ways to describe cats whom you may interact with. It includes examples of pronouns, as well as other gendered terms (she-cat/tom).

She/her:
Eveningstar looked at Spottedmoth. The way her fur sparkled under the light of the moon made his heart skip a few beats. He couldn't believe that they finally got a moment together. Since Nightstar's death, things around camp had been different and it had made Eveningstar appreciate the she-cat even more. He was grateful that she was it his side.

He/him:
Eveningstar looked at Spottedmoth. The way his fur sparkled under the light of the moon made his heart skip a few beats. He couldn't believe that they finally got a moment together. Since Nightstar's death, things around camp had been different and it had made Eveningstar appreciate the tom even more. He was grateful that he was it his side.

They/them:
Eveningstar looked at Spottedmoth. The way their fur sparkled under the light of the moon made his heart skip a few beats. He couldn't believe that they finally got a moment together. Since Nightstar's death, things around camp had been different and it had made Eveningstar appreciate the other cat even more. He was grateful that they were at his side.

As you can see, using the proper pronouns isn't difficult. Please be mindful of your peers, and if you have any questions, reach out. Not everybody has the same understanding of concepts as everybody else, so it is perfectly acceptable to ask questions. What is not acceptable is being impolite or purposely trying to make somebody uncomfortable.
