⌘︎Bandit⌘︎

{❖︎ ❖︎ ❖︎}

Tom (he/him)|| 8 Moons || Loner || Heterosexual

{❖︎ ❖︎ ❖︎}

⌘︎Appearance⌘︎

One line Description: Grey-brown ticked tabby tom, with brown eyes and white markings.

Descriptive Appearance: Bandit has softly rounded features, with a build that is mostly average, but leans a bit toward the slimmer side. This has been accentuated recently both by him naturally losing some of his kitten weight and by him not eating as much. It's nothing that would be considered dangerous, but he is thinner than before.

The tom has a short-haired, grayish-brown ticked pelt, with black tabby markings. He has a few thin, unbroken stripes, but mostly the stripes are broken up into spots, with even two or three rosettes near the middle of his pelt. A dark stripe runs from his forehead to his tail-tip. Bandit's most notable stripes are on his face, where they dot his forehead above the white and the fully-visible ones seem to frame his light, coppery-brown eyes.

Apart from his patterned fur, Bandit also has jagged white markings along his underside, from his forehead to his hind legs. There is a patch of tabby fur on each of his hind legs, which are otherwise white. Bandit has three dark rings at the end of his tail, and a dark tail tip. His fur is usually well-groomed, though his white paws are frequently stained from whatever territory he's been walking across that day, and he sometimes forgets to wash his ears.

Bandit has a light pink nose and lips, and darker salmon-coloured inner ears, which are partially covered by tufts of white fur. His ear tips are rounded. There are three little spikes of black fur on each ear tip, but they can only be seen up-close.

⌘︎Personality⌘︎

Brief Personality: Naïve, extroverted, cautious, prideful.

Descriptive personality: Bandit's outlook on the world, and his attitude toward it, were heavily influenced by his upbringing. He always felt very supported by his family as a kit, growing up in a loving environment where everyone wanted everyone else to do well. It left him comfortable with the idea that he lives in a safe and kind world-- a place where he can run instead of tiptoeing.

While Bandit had explored outside of his family and had little spats within it, so he wasn't entirely sheltered, the young tom still assumed the best of others when he ventured out on his own. Ironically, this has left him a little bit wary of everyone. He has very little sense of which cats could be dangerous, and has had a few minor but frightening experiences when he guessed wrong, so he errs on the side of caution.

This newly reserved and cautious attitude clashes quite badly with another aspect of his personality: Bandit is an extrovert. He likes to have lots of acquaintances and cats to hang out with, and is, at least on a surface level, friendly and fairly easy to get along with. As a kit, he was bombastic and playful, would strike up a conversation at almost any opportunity, and hesitated little at the idea of jumping into a new adventure. Bandit is still very extroverted now, craving the chance to just talk to someone, but he's also a fair bit more guarded than he was then.

Notably, while Bandit likes to talk and play a lot with a variety of cats, he prefers to have very few close bonds. Once he truly invests, he is fully invested, so he doesn't have the emotional energy to instantly care about everyone he meets.

Another aspect of Bandit's upbringing that has strongly affected him is that he was always competitive with his siblings, trying to beat or at least match them. It was a playful and supportive rivalry, and the young tom never consciously took the thought of proving himself to heart, but moons of thinking about it left it ingrained in his mindset nonetheless. He finds it very difficult to admit, even to himself, when he isn't good at something. Whether this comes off as childlike and endearing or conceited and foolish will depend on the circumstances, and probably, how long it sticks around as he ages.

⌘︎History⌘︎

Parents: Butterscotch (mother, NPC) and Smokey (father, NPC)
Siblings: Hog (brother) and Maple (sister, adoptable)
Kits: None.
Descriptive History: Bandit has heard stories of the seasons before he was born. His mother, Butterscotch, was a kittypet that ventured too far from her house. She found herself lost in the woods, where a helpful loner tom, named Smokey, led her back home. The two got along well, and soon enough, started to meet up frequently. It wasn't long before they fell in love, and they spent several happy moons together. This is the part of the story that usually stays consistent.

The part that has varied, depending on Bandit's age, and who told the story, was what happened next. Through some set of circumstances-- a long walk and unexpected arrival, fear of how Butterscotch's housefolk might react, or a desire for adventure-- Butterscotch once again ventured out into the woods, and gave birth to a litter of three, with Smokey by her side through the challenging birth.

Bandit was raised, alongside his brother Hog and his sister Maple, in the sunny days of Newleaf and Greenleaf, in a small town not far from New Orleans. Butterscotch stayed with them long enough for them to be properly weaned, then returned to her Housefolk. Smokey would often bring the kits to visit, and Butterscotch would shower them with love and affection. The rest of the time, the three kits were raised by Smokey, who protected them and taught them how to survive outside.

Bandit was always competitive with his littermates, trying to beat or at least match them. He would always take up Hog on the little bets he would make, insisting that he would learn the newest move first, even on the few occasions when he didn't truly believe it. He likes to feel like he knows more than others, or that he knows something they don't, though half of the fun is giving away the "secret". Bandit might get quite upset if he lost, and insist that he actually won instead, and that everyone else was wrong, but it always ultimately stayed good-natured.

The littermates learned fast, constantly pushing each other forward. It was the perfect storm of a supportive environment and an expectation to do better, and the kits seemed to thrive under Smokey's guidance, hungry for any information he would give them. Bandit himself found that his desire for knowledge was never fully fulfilled, no matter how many answers he got. It was this curiosity, and a sense of competition, that drove him to explore the world on his own more and more often. He would ask Hog and Maple if they wanted to come with him, but they all had their own interests, and chasing those interests took them down different paths.

The kits, perhaps taking after their mother's adventurous spirit, or their father's sense of responsibility, began to wander farther and farther from Smokey. Soon enough, every kit was exploring all on their own, dodging danger and carving out a unique place for themselves in the world. At six moons old, when they were big enough to no longer be considered kits, the three littermates told their parents that they were ready to pursue their own journeys, and they all said farewell. Hog started off toward an oak forest with strange cats that Smokey had told them about, and Bandit headed the same way for a while before he ran into a new, exciting city, and decided to settle down there.

He hurtled into the world at the same breakneck pace he'd grown up at, only to find that he didn't know where he was going. He could chase down his interests all he liked, but where would he go back to afterwards? Was he too young to start looking for a mate? Who would back him up if he made new friends and they turned out to be dangerous? Much like his mother had, moons before he was born, Bandit found himself lost. All he knew was that he couldn't go backwards; it was now or never. In the two moons that he has spent in this new place, Bandit has struggled to scrape by, but he won't give up.

Bandit thinks he's ready for this, but doubt is starting to creep in, and so is Leaf-fall....
